Paulina Gyan, MS, MPH





Paulina Gyan [jan] is the Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems (ECCS) Administrator at Delaware’s Division of Public Health, which oversees the division’s ECCS program, Help Me Grow initiative including the state’s developmental screening initiative. She has been in this position since October of 2011. Paulina received her B.A. degree from the University of Cape Coast, in her native Ghana and later taught High School level English Language in Ghana as well as Kenya in the late 1980s before migrating to the United States. She holds a Masters in Corporate Communication from Ithaca College and another Masters of Public Health from Arcadia University. In 1997, she accepted a position with the Delaware Coalition Against Domestic Violence (DCADV) first as the Project/Training Coordinator and later as the Communications Coordinator. Ten years later, she left DCADV to work with the Division of Public Health’s Office of Health Risk Communications. After 4 years in that position, she transitioned into her current position, where she’s responsible for ensuring families of young children in Delaware are connected to community resources to leverage early detection of developmental and behavioral concerns. Paulina has years of experience teaching adult learners. She has conducted a number of trainings and presentations, in and out of state, for the early childhood community, non-profit agencies including business, healthcare, religious, and immigrant communities. She is currently collaborating with multiple partners to expand access to developmental screenings for Delaware families. She resides in Newark, Delaware with her husband and three (3) sons.
