The Delaware Academy of Pediatrics (DEAAP), in partnership with the Delaware Division of Public Health (DPH) seeks to promote normal child development by supporting the use of standardized screening tools in primary care pediatric practices throughout the state.  Early identification of developmental disorders is crucial to a child’s development.   Early detection with early intervention leads to better outcomes and gives children the opportunity to reach their full potential. The use of validated developmental screening tools at well-child visits is an effective means of detecting delays.  The Delaware Developmental Screening Initiative online education course seeks to provide primary care pediatric providers and other child health and education professionals access to education and resources to promote developmental milestones in their patients and students.  This online education course consists of short, stand-alone education modules on various topics as follows:

  • Delaware Developmental Screening Initiative Overview
  • Parents’ Evaluation of Developmental Status (PEDS Online)
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Early Intervention, Referral Process and Community Resources
  • Bridging the Gaps (in the early intervention system)
